Supporting you with CBAM Regulations: Upcoming Webinar

Our CBAM Consultancy Service and Free Health Check Tool is here to support you.

As the global push for carbon neutrality intensifies, the European Union introduced the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to ensure imported goods are subject to the same carbon pricing as those produced within the EU. Our dedicated CBAM Consultancy Service and a free EU CBAM Health Check Tool is available to support UK exporters in understanding and complying with this complex regulatory landscape.

What is CBAM?
CBAM is the EU regulation that aims to reduce carbon leakage by levelling the playing field for EU and non-EU producers of carbon-intensive goods. Initially covering products such as cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen, it requires EU importers to report on the embedded greenhouse gas emissions of these goods.

Why It Matters to UK Exporters
From 1st July 2024, EU importers had to begin using actual emissions data rather than default values when reporting to the European Commission. This shift places an increasing burden on UK exporters to provide detailed emissions data, covering both direct and indirect emissions, for their goods. Without this information, EU importers may face higher CBAM costs, making UK exports less competitive.

How Essex Chambers Can Help
Our new CBAM Consultancy Service provides bespoke support to help businesses:

  • Understand the scope and impact of CBAM
  • Identify affected products in their portfolio
  • Measure and calculate embedded emissions accurately
  • Develop practical reporting frameworks
  • Ensure compliance with EU import partners’ requirements

The service is delivered by experienced consultants and is available on-site or remotely, offering a tailored approach to suit each business's needs.

Introducing the EU CBAM Health Check Tool
To assist businesses in evaluating their readiness for CBAM compliance, we offer a free, interactive EU CBAM Health Check Tool. This tool allows UK exporters to:

  • Answer a few quick questions—taking approximately 5 minutes
  • Receive a personalised readiness report using a traffic light system to highlight:
    • Urgent areas requiring action
    • Areas needing improvement
    • Compliance areas already in place

If further support is needed, businesses can book a free session with a CBAM expert.

EU CBAM: Trader Responsibilities and Policy Developments Webinar

Join our partners ChamberCustoms for an informative session on the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and what it means for exporters. This webinar will outline the specific responsibilities for businesses – both in the UK and internationally – whose goods fall within the CBAM scope and are destined for the EU market.

We will explain the data you are expected to provide to EU importers, particularly in light of the shift from default values to actual emissions data. The session will also feature a policy update from the British Chambers of Commerce, covering the latest EU-UK discussions and what any proposed agreement does – or does not – change in relation to EU CBAM.

The webinar will conclude with an open Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions, clarify specific points, and gain practical insights from our expert speakers.
